Project: CRT Aliens & Cyborgs

This collection features a series of graphic character profiles created for a game prototype set in a sci-fi world inspired by the tone and scale of classic space operas. The concept centers around running a pawn shop in a futuristic galaxy, where you buy and sell strange technology, alien artifacts, and forgotten relics.

Instead of traditional illustrations, the characters were designed using limited visual systems inspired by older games, with some profile art constructed from letters, numbers, and simple symbols. This constraint-driven approach helped recreate the feeling of early digital games while also exploring how strong character identity can still emerge from minimal detail.

Intergalactic Pawn Shop - Official Trailer |Project: Anything

You’re a pawn shop owner wheeling and dealing in all kinds of goods found across the known universe. Whether you’re known as someone who deals outside the law or not is up to you.

Though much of the connective universe remains in relative ruins after the recent fall of the Aero Alliance and the war of Seven Suns (a war in which the Rebels and Aero Alliance fought for control of the universe, named after the destruction of Winturb and Poipo, and their shared seven suns), relative order and law are held by the Galactic Utopia Federation.

Thanks to a lack of properly signed peace treaties and accepted defeats, many planets and their inhabitants are still at war with one another. The Defence Liberation is what remains of Aero Alliance, mainly composed of extremists with little to no combat experience but a whole lot of prejudice.

With everything still in ruins, the people turn to pawn shops to sell and buy what they can to survive.
