Project: Design a NSFW version of Hinata in a cow costume (Commission Flop)
For this project, I created an adult reinterpretation of Hinata from Naruto in a themed costume concept, merging character design with playful, stylized fantasy aesthetics. The goal was to transform a familiar character into a bold, original visual concept while preserving recognizable traits and personality through pose, expression, and costume detail. The design explores the contrast between innocence and confidence, using exaggerated styling, soft textures, and attention to form to create an image that feels expressive rather than purely explicit. This piece was developed to engage an adult audience within commission communities, focusing on creativity, reinterpretation, and visual storytelling through character-driven NSFW art.
What is a “flop”?
In commission work, a “flop” refers to a project that fails to succeed due to client drop-off, misalignment, or lack of follow-through. This can occur when a client backs out before payment, loses interest, or stops responding after work has begun. A flop may also describe a completed project that receives little engagement or does not meet expectations. While frustrating, flops are an unavoidable aspect of freelance creative work and often highlight the importance of clear terms, deposits, and communication. Each one provides lessons in improving workflow, client screening, and setting boundaries for future commissions.
